Bast fibres include linen (flax), jute, hemp and bamboo. They have been used for centuries as weaving yarns but recently they have gained popularity because of their eco-friendliness – many bast fibres require fewer resources to produce, and they come from renewable plant sources. Yarns spun from bast fibres are known for their strength.
