This chart compares the thickness of our yarns across different counts, from thickest to thinnest. There are clickable links to take you to our yarns for each count.

It also shows how weaving yarn counts relate to the US and UK weights used by knitters and crocheters, and a recommended crochet hook size.

Do you want to substitute a yarn for a similar weight? Compare the m/100g values, if they are within 20m/100g of each other then it’s a simple substitution, e.g. 8/2 NeC and 22/2 NeL.

Note that the construction of Garnhuset Chenille, Garnhuset 5.0 Linen Cotton Bouclé Effect and Brassard Cotton Boucle means that they can’t be accurately placed in the count chart.

* wpi is a measure of yarn diameter, counts are a measure of linear density. Don’t expect them to be proportional to each other across different fibres.

** Our suggested setts are based on our weaving experiences and the availability of reed dpi. Three setts are provided; lacey, plain weave, twill.
